Coffeyville, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Men's Soccer Team picked up its third victory of the year with a 5-0 walloping of the Mavericks of UofA Cossatot. With the victory, the Red Ravens' overall record moves to 3-2.
From the opening whistle, Coffeyville set the tone, quickly establishing its offensive rhythm. Sophomore Jacob Shaw opened the scoring with an assist from sophomore Kanata Takahashi minutes into the first half. Moments later, Takahashi himself found the back of the net, assisted by sophomore Diego Mejia, doubling the lead. The team's relentless attack continued as sophomore Atila Chagas added a third goal, assisted by sophomore Fabrizio Kasperiski. Jacob Shaw struck again, this time assisted by freshman Ivanytskyy Lev, giving Coffeyville a commanding 4-0 lead at halftime.
During the second half, the onslaught was capped off by Takahashi's second goal of the game, with an assist from freshman Francisco Silva, sealing the 5-0 victory.
Coffeyville's defense was equally impressive, limiting the opposition to just 8 shots, all of which were saved by goalkeeper Tsubasa Nakamura, who recorded a clean sheet.
Coffeyville will move on to KJCCC Conference play, where they will open up at home with Dodge City on Wednesday, September 10th. Kick-off in Veterans Memorial Stadium is set for 4:00 p.m.
