The Coffeyville Community College Men's Basketball Team defeated the Seward County Saints 71-62 at home Saturday afternoon. The win keeps the Ravens' 2021 overall record at a perfect 6-0 and 4-0 in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) play. Dating back to last year, the Ravens are currently riding a 15 game win streak.
Ball security and rebounding helped the Red Ravens survive a cold shooting performance in this game against Seward County. For the game, Coffeyville was outshot by Seward 46%-35%. However, the Ravens led the Saints in rebounding (38-29) and turnovers (12-17). Those combined with strong end of game free throw shooting edged out the 71-62 victory.
Coffeyville sophomore guard Tylor Perry led the Ravens with 22 points on 5-7 shooting overall and 3-5 shooting from three. Perry also went 9-10 from the charity stripe. Raven freshman big man Blaise Keita helped out with 20 points and 8 rebounds. Jalen Smith kicked in 10 points (going 8-8 from the free-throw line).
The Ravens will look to continue their winning streak this coming Wednesday with a road game to Great Bend Kansas to play the Barton Community College Cougars. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
