The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Women's basketball team returned from the holiday break and suffered a close home loss to the #15 Seward County Saints, 66-62. The loss moves the Red Ravens overall record to 13-3 and 3-3 in KJCCC conference play.
The Red Ravens looked sharp in the first half outshooting the saints 46% to 31%. However, Seward made six threes in the first half to Coffeyville's three to keep the game close at the half with the Red Ravens earning a 2 point (30-28) halftime lead.
Coffeyville came out flat after halftime and was outscored 22-10 in the third quarter. The fourth quarter saw the Red Ravens fight hard in a comeback but time ran out and the game ended with the 66-62 loss.
Top performers for Coffeyville included sophomore Faith Simpson with 13 points and sophomore Ania Markowska with 7 points and 10 rebounds.
Coffeyville will look to get their first win of 2020 with a home matchup against Colby on Wednesday, January 8th. Action will tip-off in Nellis Gymnasium at 5:30 pm.
