Raven Softball Adding Pitching Depth
Coffeyville, Kan. - Coffeyville Community College Red Raven softball opens the 2026 season in less than two weeks, and will look to ascend the conference standings with a revamped pitching rotation.
The Red Ravens only had four pitchers appear on the mound in game action last season, resulting in a team ERA over six, and a .385 batting average against. Head Coach Ashton Friend and Assistant Coach Tyler Fuller were aggressive recruiting pitchers that bring a variety of skill and ability to this roster.
One of the new additions is freshman Gabrielle Simons, from Harker Heights, Texas. She says the entire staff will have to embrace being adaptable and focused this season.
Another freshman on the staff is Kaydence Pawnee, of El Reno, Oklahoma. Pawnee says the entire staff has brought out the best in each other so far.
An important aspect of pitching is the connection and relationship with the battery mate behind the plate. Freshman catcher Kylee Copeland says the staff has already made her a better player.
CCC opens the 2026 season against Eastern Oklahoma State on February 17th, before the home opener against Metropolitan Community College on February 24th.
