Red Ravens Micah Barron and Nic Flores Compete at FISU World University Powerlifting Championships

Red Raven Powerlifters Micah Barron (Eudora KS) and Nic Flores (Cushing OK) both competed at the 2024 FISU World Men's University Powerlifting Championships held in Tartu Estonia July 23-27th.  Over 40 countries were represented at the World Championships.

Barron and Flores were able to compete at the World Championships after they secured spots on the USA team this past Spring with their finishes at the USA Collegiate Championships.

At the World Championships, Barron finished 11th overall in his weight class while finishing 6th in squats, 13th in bench, and 6th in deadlift.  Flores finished 16th overall in his weight class finishing 5th in squat, 11th in bench, and 19th in deadlift.

Red Raven head powerlifting coach Rico Cherico expressed "It was a great honor for both of our student/athletes to have the chance to compete against the best powerlifters in the world!"

Barron will be moving on from Coffeyville as he will attend Friends University this coming year, while Flores will be returning to compete for the Red Ravens for another season.
