Red Raven Powerlifting Competes at USA Collegiate Nationals - Nic Flores & Micah Barron Earn Spots on USA National Team
Reno, Nevada - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Men's & Women's Powerlifting teams competed at the USA Collegiate Nationals Powerlifting Championships held in Reno Nevada on March 17th.
Head Coach Sean Cherico explained "The lifters are organized by weight classes with each of the lifters lifting in three areas: bench, squat, and deadlift. The athletes can place in each of the three lifts individually as well as in the overall category where all three are totaled together. The top five in the overall category qualify as All-American with the top two in the overall category qualifying for the USA National Team which will compete internationally in Tartu Estonia this coming July 22-26th."
Coach Cherico also stated that "Coffeyville was the only 2-year school competing against all the 4-year schools in attendance and that overall Coffeyville really showed what they could do on the national collegiate powerlifting scene."

57k weight class - Melissa Ortiz (Freshman from Coffeyville KS) - Overall 4th place - All-American
76k weight class - Sydnee Jackson (Sophomore from Independence KS) - Overall 5th place - All-American
Men
74k weight class - Micah Barron (Freshman from Eudora KS) - Overall 2nd place - All-American (Qualifies for USA National Team), 1st in Deadlift (National Champion)
105k weight class - Brendon Morris (Freshman from Johnson KS) - Overall 7th place
120k weight class - Nic Flores (Freshman from Cushing OK) - Overall 1st place - All-American (Qualifies for USA National Team), 1st in Bench and Squat (National Champion in both)
120+k weight class - Caden Dougan (Freshman from Hoxie AR) - Overall 7th place, 1st in Deadlift (National Champion) and 2nd in Bench
