Red Ravens Stay Hot, Win Fourth Straight
Coffeyville, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College men's basketball continued their positive momentum, winning their fourth-straight game in a 76-62 win over the Colby Trojans on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Ravens found their groove early, and led 34-23 at the half. Colby started the second half on a 10-2 run to close the gap to three, but the Ravens would respond and led by at least seven the rest of the way.
Coffeyville continued to be one of the league's best rebounding teams, holding a 34-24 advantage over the Trojans on the glass. The team also only committed nine turnovers, and scored 18 points off Colby's 12 turnovers.
Reigning KJCCC Player of the Week Jack Sorrell finished with a career-high 26 points, along with four rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Konstantin Popovic had 15 points with four made 3-pointers. Both Daniel Ntambwe and Rashid Kuta finished in double figures as well.
It is the fourth win in a row for the Red Ravens, who have climbed to 18-8 on the season, and 12-8 in league play, now sitting in fifth place. The team is a half game behind both Dodge City and Independence, and one game behind Barton, while holding a half game lead over Cowley and Garden City.
The Ravens are off on Wednesday this week, and return to the court on Saturday afternoon at Nellis Hall, when they host the Hutchinson Blue Dragons.
