Ravens Make Statement in Win over Cowley
Coffeyville, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College men's basketball team found victory when it was desperately needed, defending home court in an 84-67 win over the Cowley Tigers at Nellis Hall.
The Ravens got off to a hot start, leading 12-4 early thanks to an early 9-0 advantage in rebounding. Cowley would battle back, facing a deficit as large as ten in the first half, but trimming the gap to just two, as the Ravens led 37-35 at the break.
Both teams would stay close with each other early in the second half, before Coffeyville went on a 12-0 run in a three-minute stretch midway through the second half. The Tigers would fight back to within eight, but could not draw any closer as the Red Ravens earn a regular season series split with Cowley.
Daniel Ntambwe had 16 points and eight rebounds to lead Coffeyville in scoring for the second straight game. Rashid Kuta finished with a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Jeremiah Ibeziako and Jack Sorrell both provided double figures off the bench, finishing with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
With the victory, Coffeyville improves to 15-8 on the season, and 9-8 in league play, currently sitting in eighth place, a half game back of both Garden City and Cowley.
CCC travels to Dodge City to take on the third place Conquistadors on Saturday afternoon.
