#22 Red Ravens Earn a 72-68 Road Victory Over Thunderbirds of Cloud County
Concordia, Kan. - The #22 NJCAA-ranked Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Men's Basketball Team earned a 72-68 victory over the Thunderbirds of Cloud County. With the victory, the Red Ravens improved their overall record to 9-3, including a 4-3 mark in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) matchups.
The game was tightly contested from start to finish, with Coffeyville trailing by a point, 36-35, at halftime. With the game winding down in the second half, Red Raven sophomore Konstantin Popovic sank a 3-pointer to give Coffeyville a 69-68 lead with just 40 seconds remaining in the contest. After a missed shot and a couple of missed free throws for Cloud combined with three made free throws for the Ravens, Coffeyville was able to secure the 72-68 victory.
Leading the Red Ravens was sophomore Daniel Ntambwe, who posted 21 points on 7-of-9 shooting, along with 6 rebounds. Red Raven freshman Ke'Bari Lewis was a highlight off the bench, scoring 14 points on 6-of-15 shooting while freshmen Ulysses Webb and Jack Sorrell each chipped in 9 points.
Coffeyville shot 46.4% from the field compared to 40% from the Thunderbirds. Cloud outrebounded the Ravens 42-33 while Coffeyville had 14 turnovers to Cloud's 16.
Coffeyville will look to wrap up its fall schedule as they host the Trojans of Colby Community College on Saturday, December 13th. Tipoff in Nellis Hall is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
