#3 Red Ravens Open Their KJCCC Season With A 98-75 Loss Against the Butler Grizzlies
Coffeyville, Kan. - Butler's speed of play presented problems for #3 NJCAA-ranked Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Men's Basketball Team as the Ravens fell to Butler 98-75 in the opening game of the 2025-26 Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) season. With the loss, Coffeyville's overall season record falls to 5-1, including a 0-1 KJCCC record.
The game was marked by Butler's relentless full-court pressure and fast-paced style, which significantly disrupted Coffeyville's rhythm and limited their offensive opportunities.
Coffeyville's efforts were led by sophomore Rashid Kuta, who contributed 19 points on an efficient 5-5 shooting, including a perfect 9-12 from the free-throw line, while sophomore Konstantin Popovic followed in the scoring with 13 points. Raven Freshman Wamba Ngouateu scored 11 points while Tyson Tucker had 10 points, and Jack Sorrell had 8 points.
The game's turning point came with Butler's ability to pressure Coffeyville into turnovers and force hurried shots, which limited the Red Ravens' scoring runs. Despite some decent shooting in some areas—45.8% overall and 75% at the free-throw line—Coffeyville couldn't keep pace with Butler's tempo. For the game, Coffeyville had 31 total turnovers to Butler's 19.
The Red Ravens will look to get back on track as they will host the Pirates of Independence on Saturday, November 22nd. Tipoff in Nellis Hall is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
