Independence, Kan. - A strong first half powered the #18 NJCAA ranked Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Men's Basketball Team to a 94-84 victory over the Pirates of Independence. With the victory, the Red Ravens improved their overall 2023 season record to 21-5 including a 15-5 record in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) games.
Coffeyville came out of the gates strong against the Pirates jumping out to a 20-point lead at halftime 57-37. The Ravens used the cushion they built in the first half as the Pirates cut the lead in the second half but the Ravens pushed ahead for the 94-84 victory.
Coffeyville had four players in double figures in the game led by sophomore guard Nathan Johnson who had 27 points, followed by freshman guard Landon Glasper who pitched in 20 points, sophomore forward Jordan Wildy who had a big 16-point 15-rebound double-double, and freshman guard Amare Haynie who had 14 points.
Coffeyville will return to action on Saturday, February 18th as they travel to Concordia Kansas to play the Thunderbirds of Cloud County. Tip-off in Concordia is set for 4 pm.
