Coffeyville, Kan. - The #14 NJCAA ranked Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Men's Basketball Team had five players score in double figures as they opened the 2022-23 season with a 93-53 defeat of the Southwestern College JV.
The Red Ravens seemed anxious to get the season started from the get-go. One thing that was a little strange was no Jay Herkelman on the sideline. Red Raven Head Coach Herkelman was serving a one-game suspension that resulted from his ejection in the Ravens last game of last season. In Herkelman's absence, enter Jake Odum, Coffeyville's newest assistant coach whose first game on the Red Raven sideline was to serve as Coffeyville's leader for the evening. Well, let's just say that Odum has a bright future if all his future games go as easy as this one.
The Red Ravens jumped out early and often in this one with Coffeyville leading 45-23 at halftime in cruising to the final 93-53 victory.
Coffeyville had five players in double figures on the evening including sophomore Jordan Wildy with 16 pts, freshman Hayden Brittingham with 13, sophomore Nathan Johnson with 12, and freshmen Camian Shell and Al-Housseny Diallo both with 11 points.
The Red Ravens will travel to Arkansas City Kansas this coming weekend as they will play in the Cowley Classic. Coffeyville is set to play Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa on Friday, November 4th at 3:00 pm and then set to play Allen County on Saturday, November 5th also at 3:00 pm.
