Bio

Johnathan Riley joined the Red Raven coaching staff as the defensive backs coach and pass game coordinator in the Spring of 2026. Coach Riley was born in Washington D.C and raised in Waldorf, Maryland. He graduated in 2018 from North Point Highschool, where he played wide receiver and cornerback. 

Riley spent 2018 at Independence Community College, where he redshirted, before transferring to Kilgore College for the 2019 season, where he appeared in five games and emerged as a highly recruited JUCO athlete. He spent the 2020-23 seasons at Oregon State University, where he began work as a student assistant helping with film evaluation, scouting reports, and player evaluations. He earned a business degree in his time in Corvallis as well.

Coach Riley spent his final season of eligibility at Central Connecticut State University, where he also completed a semester working towards a Master's Degree in Business.

His full-time coaching journey began in 2024, when he became the secondary coach at St. John's College High School, helping six players in the secondary earn Division 1 offers.

Riley spent last season as the cornerbacks coach at Bowie State University, where he helped Elijah McKenzie receive all-conference honors, as well as a school record 16 pass breakups, before transferring to Division 1 Liberty University.

Coach Riley has also served as a defensive back trainer for over 150 total athletes, ranging from high school, college, and professional levels.
