Red Raven Baseball to Host their Annual Suicide Prevention Games Along with Celebrating 50th Anniversary of First Red Raven Baseball Team
The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Baseball Team will be hosting Johnson County for an afternoon doubleheader on Saturday, April 26th, as the Red Ravens host their annual Suicide Prevention Games. Game times for the afternoon doubleheader are scheduled for 1:00 & 4:00 p.m.
On the same day, Red Raven Baseball will also be celebrating and welcoming back the 1975 Red Raven Baseball Team, who will be celebrating their 50th Anniversary.
The 1975 Team was the first fully organized baseball team in Red Raven history. The team finished the season with a 19-9 record under the leadership of the late Jim LeClere, outscoring opponents by an average of nearly 5 runs per game. Six of the 18 players posted seasonal averages over .300 as the squad ranked ninth in the nation with a .313 team mark, and swiped 78 bases in 84 steal attempts. The team's earned-run average was 2.59, while their opponents' hitting was just .223. The team concluded the 1975 season with a third-place finish in the prestigious Johnson County Tournament.
