Coffeyville Community College is pleased to announce that Tony Turner has accepted the position of Women's Head Basketball Coach.
"We are excited to welcome Tony to the Red Raven family" said, Athletic Director, Jeff Leiker. "Tony brings a wealth of knowledge to the table for our women's basketball program. He has a history of success that aligns well with the expectations of Coffeyville Community College athletic programs."
Turner said, "He is looking forward to building a successful program at Coffeyville, and is excited to be back on the women's side of the court."
Turner graduated from Independence High School and then continued his career at Independence Community College from 1985-87 where he held the single-season record for assists of 244 for nearly 20 years. He concluded his playing career at Morehead State in Kentucky.
Prior to his current post as Head Men's Basketball Coach at Independence Community College, Turner served as the Head Women's Basketball Coach for ICC. In his time at ICC, he has the "Most Wins" in ICC Women's Basketball history, earned Jayhawk Conference-Eastern Division Coach of the Year award and two conference titles. Turner's record as a Women's Head Coach was 157-67. He has had 19 players move on to Division I Institutions including the University of Missouri, University of Kansas, Oklahoma State University, Sam Houston State, Fordham University, University of Akron and New Mexico State to name a few.
Turner and his wife, Molly, have three (3) children and one (1) grandchild.
