Red Ravens prove too much for Panthers

Red Ravens prove too much for Panthers

#6 Coffeyville (14-1; 3-0 conf.) 3

Neosho (10-6; 1-1 conf.) 1

The Red Ravens volleyball team stayed red hot as they hosted conference opponent Neosho.

From opening serve, the Neosho Panthers put up a fight against the #6 Red Ravens squad.  However, the precision and excellent coached Red Ravens proved to be too much in the long run for the Panthers.

In the first set, the Red Ravens were matched point for point until head coach Delice Downing called a timeout.  Correcting the mistakes that were being made, the ladies went out and finished the set winning 25-21.

The second set was filled with mistakes by the Red Ravens and the Panthers taking advantage of those mistakes.  The set was finished by the Panthers, 26-24, on a highly questionable call by officials.

Following the second set Downing made a furry of switches during the third set.  Replacing defenders with fresh legs and players that were eager to compete proved beneficial.  After a minute long volley, the Red Ravens fnished off set 3 with a crowd roaring out of bounds hit by a Panther hitter.

The Red Ravens would go on to win the next set 25-17 as the Neosho Panthers seemed gassed from the resilient Red Raven squad.

The outing proves that even when our ladies weren't playing their best, they were still able to scratch out a victory.  Despite the good efforts of the Panthers, the Red Ravens were able to continue their 14 game winning streak.

The Red Ravens will be in action again on the road against Notheastern Oklahoma.
