Red hot start for Red Ravens Men's Basketball

The Red Ravens men's basketball team is off to a red hot start.  Head coach Jay Herkelman and his staff have their program clicking on all cylinders.  The team jumped out to a quick 3-0 start as they beat Bethany JV, Ottawa JV, and Fort Scott, 115-44, 123-53, and 94-59 respectively.

Their first test came against Northern Oklahoma College-Enid as they battled and overcame a tough Jets team for a 75-70 win.

Herkelman, along with assistant coaches Kyle Fisher and Justin Tabor, has their team running efficiently.

They faced rival Independence Community College at Independence.  The team went in to spoil the football teams celebration for winning the KJCCC Football championship.  The Red Ravens did just that.  The team went into the hostile gymnasium and stole the victory and established their dominance as they won 84-75.

The following game, the Red Ravens welcomed the Dodge City Conquistadors into Nellis Hall.  The Red Ravens faced early adversity as Keon Queen received a double technical and ejected four minutes into the game; a highly questionable call.

In the early goings of the season, TJ Washington "the President", leads the team averaging 15.6 points per game followed by freshman Marvin Johnson with 14.0.

Defensively, Keon Queen leads the team with 6.4 rebounds per game followed by Cedric Roland "the Entertainer" with 4.0 per game.

The team is averaging 14.3 steals per game and being lead by Johnson with 2.8 steals per game.

As the conference season gets going, the team has primed itself to be fun to watch and one to continue their early success.
